Bonding & contouring.

Talk through small changes to a tooth’s shape or appearance.

A 31-year-old man with short wavy hair.

If you have a chipped, slightly misaligned, or otherwise imperfect tooth that needs cosmetic restoration, we may suggest one-appointment bonding. The dentist can apply resin, shaded to blend with tooth’s natural color, to rebuild the tooth. After hardening the resin with a curing light, he artistically sculpts and polishes the restoration. In just one visit, you can enjoy a beautiful new smile! Cosmetic bonding is a viable, affordable alternative to porcelain veneers, but may not last as long. Bonding won’t discolor as your natural tooth enamel does, so touch-up whitening may be required to keep your teeth the same shade as bonded areas.

Your examination, medical history and goals help determine the right approach for you. Our team can explain the available options, timing and costs before you decide.

Your care, understood

Small changes deserve careful planning.

Bonding uses tooth-colored material; contouring changes the tooth surface. The amount of healthy tooth structure, your bite and the location of the concern help determine whether either option is appropriate.

Questions to bring.

  1. Is bonding appropriate for this tooth?
  2. How might it wear or stain?
  3. Would a different restoration be better?
